Define “No pain no gain” : veganfitness

To those who have made it to their ideal body. Who went from zero to hero. Do I need to constantly feel weak to get strong?

I started my fitness journey 2 years ago and have made great progress! But haven’t reached my goals yet.

My nonbiological brother who is pretty muscular has started going to my gym and we work out together.

In the past I’ve hardly ever been sore and when I was it was barely noticeable. Just an annoyance. But I’ve been trying my brother’s way where we go all out. The time goes by faster when you’re with someone so we will be at the gym for 2 to 3 hours.

One time I was incredibly sore from the leg day before. It was a constant pain, especially when walking, and limited my range of movement. It took days to go away. Yesterday my brother was sore all over. He slept till 1 and couldn’t go to the gym. I don’t even want to imagine the pain that I felt in my legs being all over at the same time.

So is this normal? Do I need to constantly be agony to get results? Or can I reach the goal at slightly slower pace if I just push myself to an extent where I won’t be that sore? Please let me know. Thank you.
