Sometimes it’s hard to reach my protein goal, so I eat TVP or drink a protein shake. But after the shake, I’ve felt pretty tired. Almost like a brain fog from hypoglycemia or something. I didn’t measure my glucose, it’s just a guess.
Could this be from the insulin rise from all that (25-50g) easily digestible protein? Will this go away when I’m in better shape? My fasting glucose was recently elevated, but is now in the normal range. I don’t remember this happening with a different brand when I was in much better shape.
I’m going to try it again tomorrow, but with with some carbs. (For example mixed into some oatmeal.) The thing is, I don’t want to resort to sugar and it seems like that would be the only carb that would be fast enough to be an antidote to the protein powder. Oh well, I guess I’ll see what happens.
