For context, I’m a 17 year old female who just got into fitness at the end of 2020, with pretty much one goal: get stronger and build some muscle.
It started with going to Planet Fitness (I now know of it’s reputation) and doing their circuit because I didn’t know what else to do. Then, I joined the Y and did personal training from February to the end of the year with little results. I didn’t really learn how to do much on my own. Now I’m doing group classes at a different gym, which is nice, but they’re not going to help me build muscle, and the instructor even said that. They’re mainly for people trying to lose weight. I’ve got a couple of months of that contract left.
If I had the money for PT sessions I’d do it in a heartbeat. I’ve changed a lot and I feel like becoming a stronger person is only the next step in my journey to a new me. I just don’t know how to do it alone. A regular gym memberships is much cheaper, so I thought maybe I could wing it with online research? If I haven’t gained anything else in the past year I’ve at least gained some knowledge about different exercises I can do.
Is this the best option for me right now? I’m not sure what to do otherwise. I’m ready and willing to work hard, I just don’t have the financial means for personal training.
