You’ll soon be able to ‘have a break’ vegan-style as Nestlé has just revealed that it is launching vegan KitKat biscuits!
Arriving in the UK later this year, KitKat V features the brand’s trademark crisp wafer layers smothered in smooth chocolate, all made entirely from plant-based ingredients.
‘Taste was a priority’
In order to make sure the vegan KitKat alternative lived up to the original, chocolatiers and food scientists in Nestlé’s Research and Development centre have been hard at work making sure the taste and texture is spot on.
According to Louise Barrett, Head of the Nestlé Confectionery Product Technology Centre in York, “Taste was a priority when developing the plant-based chocolate for our new vegan KitKat.
“We used our expertise in ingredients, together with a test and learn approach, to create a delicious vegan choice for KitKat fans,” she added.
‘It tastes amazing’
Nestlé has been on a mission to offer vegan alternatives to some of its best-loved products, including Carnation condensed milk and Dolce Gusto coffee pods.
The company has even reformulated the recipe for its iconic Fruit Pastilles sweets to make them vegan-friendly along with Jelly Tots.
Inspired by the popularity of these plant-based products, Nestlé has decided to give KitKats a vegan makeover after noticing a huge number of social media users were requesting that the company release a vegan version.
Speaking about the popularity of its plant-based products, Alex Gonnella, Marketing Director for Nestlé Confectionery said: “We have seen an incredible response to our vegan-friendly Fruit Pastilles since their launch last year, so we know how much people want to enjoy alternative versions of their favourite treats.
“The most common request we see on social media is for a vegan KitKat, so we’re delighted to be able to make that wish come true. I can’t wait for more people to try it; we think it tastes amazing!”
