We’ve tried the new steaks from Juicy Marbles – and yes, they’re vegan!

It is safe to say that when I first received these filet mignon steaks, I was in utter disbelief.

Never had I seen vegan meat look or feel like this! The marbled details and pink tones are simply revolutionary.

Once out of the packaging, I prepped the ‘meat’ according to the simple guidelines. I topped each steak with a teaspoon of Dijon mustard for a bit of added flavour.

In a hot pan, I added a good drizzle of olive oil and fresh thyme followed by the filet mignon.

While these steaks were sizzling away in the frying pan, I found myself re-reading the packaging that ensure they were 100% vegan!

In addition to the incredible smell, the steaks caramelised beautifully creating a crispy edge with a melt-in-the-mouth centre.

The steaks took just a few minutes on either side until they were ready to eat.

I served mine with creamy mash, some greens, and a quick creamy mushroom sauce.

Furthermore, the steaks were beyond my expectations, it is clear that we are stepping into a new era of food technology, with Juicy Marbles leading the way for alternative meat.

Although it is worth noting these steaks cost a pretty penny, currently priced at €30 for 4, plus €15 for postage.

Who are Juicy Marbles?

Founded in 2020, this Slovenian start-up uses proprietary protein texturing technology, to replicate the complex texture and intricate fat systems of meat-based filet mignon.

This alt-meat business aims to reduce the reliance on animal agriculture and reduce meat consumption while allowing people to still enjoy the flavours and textures of premium whole cuts.

In addition, for every purchase of Juicy Marbles‘ vegan steaks, the company will plant a tree with partners Ecosia.

Co-founder and CEO, Luka Sinček, intends to launch Juicy Marbles in stores and restaurants in the coming year, as well as plans to ship to the US.
